After the disappointing performance of the Rogga Brigade, the RMR crew yearned for some trve brutality. Death Metal ready to rip the flesh off your bones. Bestowed with a gazillion greasy hooks that will suck you into the darkly glowing underground. Oh, and none of that friendly gurgling and burpy wet schmoozing of the cadaver gang allowed.1 A redline not to be crossed.

The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom. That’s one helluva title, isn’t it? This – thing should be banned solely for the dumbfoolery displayed both in the moniker and the album cover. In fact, the bossman himself wrote a memo to staff to stop concentrating on this particular piece of loud-mouthed muck full of pseudo-occultism and chickens left whole. Ah, the Cimbrian community in the Italian Veneto seems to be very active in metal. The RMR crew covered Kanseil’s piece Doin Erde earlier in 2015. Folk Metal with a quirk and a solid historical background.

Now, the Italian Folk Metal band VallorcH released their sophomore full-length album Until Our Tale Is Told back towards the end of that same year. And similar to the aforementioned medievally-tainted dudes, this act takes a pretty folksy, yet truly metallic approach to local themes. Mainly based on the cultural remnants of the highlands North of Venice.

A good storyline will drive the quality of a record. A stereotype that is almost always true. A great storyline, however, will knock it out of the park. And that is where Blighted Eye strut onto the scene like the bright green Cookie Monster. I’m hearing, Agony’s Bespoke rides into battle on the tale of Clare, a deported convict violently abused by Australian settlers, as described in the 2018 movie ‘The Nightingale’. And to transform these brutal moving pictures into an Extreme Metal piece definitely turns this slightly nauseating tale into a damned great storyline.
