Sarke is a feisty one. Created by the man himself and fueled by Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone, this outfit is one of the quirkiest the RMR crew encountered in this metal multiverse of ours. And that means we’re all ears whenever the band lets loose with a new record.

Allsighr didn’t talk to us at first. But in time, the quirky ways of Sarke got into our metal bloodstream and took hold like one of those sneaky viruses. Since Out of the Garden artfully garnished the RMR zine’s early days, Crypt Sermon has been a fixture at the RMR office tower. And for cause. The undeniable doom-laden quality of The Ruins of Fading Light yet again delivered one cool sophomore album in 2019. But since then, nada.

So, finally, the Philadelphians are back with a vengeance after some 5 years of wait. And the band survived this pretty much unscathed with only two new guys induced into their halls of fame over time.

Unless you wish to be bludgeoned with Brutal Death Metal of the best Neanderthal fashion, of course. The kind that will leave your ears bleeding and your earphones in shambles. If so, take the Black Pill (the blue and red variants won’t work here) and come in. But you’ll be on your own. Nobody will come to your rescue should this fare not be to your taste. Sidus Atrum. The band that astonished the hell out of us back in 2022 when Spiral of Life suddenly hit our review pipe. The RMR crew was smitten right away by the elegant arrangement and pretty neat songwriting on offer. And, the piece made it onto the 2022 Top 10 Records. Deservedly so.

Meanwhile, a full-fledged shooting war ensued between Russia and the band’s home country Ukraine. And it’s, by the time of writing this review, still raging full-throttle.
