RockmusicRaider Review - King Goat - Conduit - Album CoverI did not even like the record at first when I discovered the disc some time around spring break last year. Too loud, too chaotic, too unharmonious. Take that, unknown record! So, all its wonders more or less intact, the dish got shelved quickly and brutally. And continued to collect dust ever since, sent to oblivion to rot forever.

But then, some magic sun ray appeared [weird music playing]. And the 2016 début full length album Conduit from the UK band King Goat returned to some inkling of good graces. The album even received a first listen. Now, get this: The feeling was still of chaotic, unnerving disharmony, but surely of a pretty good musicianship at the same time. And a disturbing sense of a confusing, but steady flow and fuzzy flavors of stoner-esque doomy melodies. [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!

RockmusicRaider Review - Khemmis - Hunted - Album CoverI think the likes of Paradise Lost or My Dying Bride just got themselves some serious company. But with a grungy flavor that constantly reminds me of the 2015 piece Crypt Sermon wrote. Now, where is this terrible name-calling coming from already at the beginning of a review? Well, the sophomore effort Hunted of the American band Khemmis does that to you. This is not to say that they are skimming off other bands too hard, just to be clear. They place themselves slam into this Doom Metal universe that other sad warriors already occupy for some time.

And Hunted differentiates how exactly?

First, to get there you need to give the record a serious listen. Or even two. And then, what is this bullshit expression of the goofy business types again? Ah, yeah: Flawless execution. This comes to mind when you delve into the pleasures Khemmis offers to you. With no silly intro to haunt your doom metal crunch dreams, they riff away straight from the get-go. And impress with greatly engineered doomish riffs, peppered with solos and spiced with clean vocals or some strategically placed grunts and rasps. All that jazz always delivered with a trifle Iron Maiden added into the fray. [...]  Got hooked? Crypt Sermon – Out of the Garden (2015) – Review

Coming through as extremely compressed with a relatively low DR rating, the grunge metal flavored Doom Metal style of the US band 'Crypt Sermon' will nevertheless manage to get your attention - make no mistake! Not the best ever production of the doom kind, mind you. But as the first full length début 'Out of the Garden' goes, this is solid and good #Metal.

The band formed not so long ago from different corners of the #Metal universe, starting with a first demo in 2014 and are now coming through with this here concoction.
