Croak! Ah, this is going to be a difficult one. The RMR crew already covered swampy gurgles in the past, emanating from slimy creatures dwelling in the rotting muck. Such pieces can get far with us. And besides, the RMR crew often fancies leaning into the slimy primordial soup of deathly prog.

Actually, I wanted to ignore their new piece. We had enough Cradle of Filth on this zine over the years. Right? Well, not quite, it appears. Dani Filth‘s troupe of daemonic misfits brought much entertainment to these offices, starting with Dusk… And Her Embrace. And since then, the RMR team consumed record after record of frantic back and fro on stage with the (in)famous filthy screams reminding us who we were dealing with.

So, now, The Screaming of the Valkyries appeared on our radar. And – in a way – it got stuck to our frontal lobe like

This Gift is a Curse – Heir (2025) – Review

Oh yeah, baby. Time to stop wobbling about strange soundscapes and back to burning off some mental fat. And that’s best done with unapologetic furious metal, stuff the usual classical music connoisseur would not touch with a ten-foot flagpole. Noisome metallic items that the RMR crew cannot really resist.

So, descend into This Gift is a Curse‘s unhealthy and wickedly heathen realm. An unwelcome apparition of a beast so vile it might make you decamp in a hellbent hurry. Meet the Heir, bow your head in submission, and be afraid. Very afraid.
