RockmusicRaider Review - Stortregn - Emptiness Fills The Void - Album Cover Stortregn‘s 2016 record Singularity starts with this friggin’ solo. First one guitar, then the second chiming in. Very unusual for the genre they so avidly depict. But this … thing juicily draws you in, a magic metal pull. And down you go through the rabbit hole, where overheated amps shred a growling sound made for the true metalhead. Such stellar beginnings and the ensuing performance will be very difficult to beat on the next record.

So, with some trepidation the RockmusicRaider crew stood in waiting for this new offering from the metal hotheads of Stortregn. Will Emptiness Fills [...] Click to raid more!

Scardust – Sands of Time (2017) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Scardust - Sands of Time - Album Cover Progressive Metal is an European affair. Right? This is what the Europeans think at least. And this annoys many American bands to hell and back.

And that meant long-time drummer Merlin Sutter and guitarist Ivo Henzi left with her to found Cellar Darling. Or – as the lore goes – Merlin got left first and the others chose to follow suit.

Well, whatever the sequence of events may have been, fact is that the growler-in-chief had the decidedly thorny task to recruit and train a new crew. This may also explain the unusually long wait [...] Click to raid more!

Vanha – Within the Mist of Sorrow (2016) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Vanha - Within The Mist fo Sorrow - Album Cover2016 was a pretty good year for all things doom, methinks. RockmusicRaider just released a review on the US band Khemmis and their kind of progressive and melodious doomish self.

And – whoom – here we go again.

The fearless RMR scout team just unearthed a tasty morsel of a similar ilk from very late in 2016. But mostly delivered in best, growly Doom Death Metal fashion – with clear vocals and croaks expertly mixed. And the team here thought that the slowly chugging beat of My Dying Bride could not be bested.

But the Swedish act Vanha with their [...] Click to raid more!
