Ah, yes, we’re back in Punk Rock’s dirty backyard. And this, just after the RMR review desk finally finished with that infamous Bokassa riot. A record rich in velocity and missing pieces.

So, here, the Montreal / Toronto punk rock scene got back onto our radar. And that’s a good thing, the RMR crew usually gets a kick out of its rowdy feistiness. Some time back the Canadian band Black Absinthe got on RockmusicRaider’s mighty rock radar with their 2016 EP Early Signs of Denial. It was this raw mix of red-hot rock that really stuck, and earned them a spot on the RMR blog.

This time they are back with a pretty cool video featuring their flagship track The Wild.

To record the session, they went a-pirating outside of Toronto. A bit like the late Alestorm crew. And shot a jam video session on a pirate boat for kids (forsooth..) with a bunch of fans and friends.

Black Absinthe! Ah, a hint of the forbidden and past debauchery, but it is not the green fairy, it is the black one. From Canada, no less. An interesting choice for a band name.

The band just served their newest EP Early Signs of Denial to the drinking – ahem – the music-loving public. And it is a good one to boot. 

Being very active in and around the Toronto scene since 2011, they will now focus on a cleaner, heavier, and more professionally produced sound going forward to reach the masses.
