It’s been a while. A few years back the RMR crew covered Dream Evil‘s old 2004 piece The Book of Heavy Metal, a record that felt like some insanely powerful metal parody. Very – and I mean very – intense and so full of clichés it almost hurt. On the other hand, the thing also was equally insanely enjoyable. A fun record that ran for weeks on our music machine.

Rotting Christ, the band name from hell that haunted parents and religious bigots all over the world for the last 35 years or so. Yet, this band became a firm staple of this here zine. And we’re not done with it.

The band just announced a new record for this Year of the Dark Lord 2024, and it’s thus time to get yet another look at the past. Good, down-home Death Metal can be a cathartic experience. Specifically, the technical variant is one of those that will burn that mental fat right off your pitch-black soul. If you got one left, that is, of course. The RMR crew ain’t too sure anymore at times. We might have inadvertently sold something to a daemon or five on our forays into the occult, the blackest of Black Metal.

Tormentum, Queensrÿche Rages Against Torture!

Queensrÿche endlessly fascinated us with their early work. They had some great hits later, too, but were never quite able to recreate this unique sound from Geoff Tate‘s glorious days. However, the band found a great replacement in the highly talented Todd La Torre back in 2012. And in time, the band managed to up the ante and produce material that seems to harken back in style and crispness to the olden golden days of this band’s glory.
