Portents, portents. They usually are legion when things start to go South seriously and are very visible to those willing to see. It is no different with Train, the formerly snarkily cheeky Californians, now seriously on their quest for cool, giddy happiness in all its sugary forms.

Their very own portents already came home to roost in their 2014 edition Bulletproof Picasso. Now that album got them some important flak – and deservedly so. Ironically, it actually blatantly missed the cool boat and ended up on some whitewashed beach in nowhere land.

2017 will be a good year for Progressive and Alternative Rock and Metal. And I have a feeling that some of them players will end up on the 2017 Top 10 Records list.

Increased sophistication seems to be the game these days, too. Away from heavy-handed djent-ism to more refined shores. Ha! Somebody just stepped out of their garage and started rocking away! In a ’70s to ’80s style of Punk Rock, Pop Rock, and plain rock ‘n’ roll that will just take you on a ride. And no, they don’t even reach us out of the US of A. 

We talk about the Swedish band Nightmen and their second blurb Fifteen Minutes of Pain, released in April 2016.

Nemesea – Uprise (2016) – Review

I did not quite know what to expect. Nemesea‘s last production The Quiet Resistance did – well – not exactly exert the metal-infused pull one would have expected. At least not on all fronts – some tracks were right there, some sort of very dark Pop Metal infected with Gothic elements. 

Then judging by their about-face they made with In Control away from their Gothic Metal laden style displayed in Mana, it does not bode well for future records (and boy did I love Mana…). Now The Quiet Resistance held loads of dark promise.
