Metallica - 72 Seasons - Album Cover

The RMR crew literally had to sift through 72 Seasons of Metallica‘s miscarriages of album art for them to finally hit a new low. We already suffered through things like the piss and blood covers on the Load / Reload series. But this one is the most awful vinyl sheath ever to appear on a metal album.1 I mean, scorched items, including a wrecked crib and miscellaneous instruments on a bright canary-yellow background. That’s like a migraine on painted cardboard. If the folks over at Metallica wanted to annoy everyone and provoke reactions, then – hells bells – … [...] Click to raid more!

In Flames - Foregone - Album Cover

It’s time to continue to make our underground genes work on the dreaded (metal) mainstream1 some more. A new series of sorts that should show some results later that year. The RMR crew already started on Katatonia with some – interesting and also unexpected results.

Now here In Flames is on the menu, another heavyweight in Extreme Metal, in business since 1990. Foregone conclusions or true quality on … [...] Click to raid more!

But Blind Guardian‘s newest record The God Machine made us raise our mutual heads quickly. Their brand is indeed powerful PM without the usual fondue. So, we stand corrected, this genre can actually be fun AND tough like a spiked metal fist. And – they are part of that vile mainstream that the … [...] Click to raid more!

Science of Disorder - Apoptose - Album Cover

Science of Disorder is one of those bands. The ones that lurch into action with some promise, and then take their sweet time to produce more material. They actually started activities back in 1989 as Soulless and then changed identities in 2011 to the current moniker. Heart, Blood & Tears followed that same year with mixed reviews. In 2018, some seven years later, the more thoughtful Private Hell finally found a market spot.1

Now, in the unholy year of the Dark Lord 2022, Apoptose2 reached the swampy depths of our review pipe. In other words, SoD ain’t in … [...] Click to raid more!
