Did you know that music CDs finally outsold vinyl in 1988? The CD hype was a big revolution back then. That was also the year with Ronald Reagan (the actor) in power in the US. Terrorists blew up jumbo-jets over Scotland and American missiles brought down a passenger plane. 

1988 also was the year of Iron Maiden‘s seventh (!) full-length studio album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. After the ’90s disasters that Iron Maiden got themselves into with weak records all along these years, I grew discouraged and dropped them pretty much from my metal radar. But now, after some investigation into the 2000s records, the RMR crew decided to give this band another try.

Undoubtedly, The Book of Souls is typical Iron Maiden and it may turn out to be one of their better albums. But it also comes away with a twist.
