Does anybody remember the folks of SAVN? The Gothic Metal jockeys with only one self-titled album to their credit, dating back to 2014. The one fronted by Carmen Elise Espenæs, you know, Liv Kristine‘s sister. Now, this record was literally the first really failed record of this zine’s long career. And we’re still traumatised. But to this day, we just can’t stand the weak tea metal this record exudes in abundance.

A double-tap, that’s what Waldgeflüster had in mind this time. Knochengesänge (bone chants), they called their newest piece of art. A tandem going for a whopping 109 minutes of airtime. That’s usually a no-go for this crew. But hey, the things we do for the Forest Metal gang. We just hope that they got a good compass; these are vast wooded wastes out there. And you surely wouldn’t want to get lost out there. Else, some evil witch, Bruder Hain1, or Rübezahl will get you just good. And you won’t get out of there anymore.

The Mexicans of Cemican1 are a weird bunch. They deliver a mix of harsh Death Metal and contemporary interpretations of long-gone South American (or Mayan) folk. Ritualistic meditations of the kind we usually hear from Northern Europe.

It appears that the Yucatan is the band’s preferred playground. An area, yours truly here knows pretty well. Extensive travels through dark jungles fondly remembered and a gazillion stoneheaps duly visited. But I digress, this would be fodder for a travel blog, not this zine. It’s almost funky to see how the n00b carousel over at the RMR office tower is starting to spin. Testament started their career in 1987, and boy, were we young then. This is a band of true heavy music pioneers, and they’ve been at it ever since, serving the sick urges of generations of metalheads.
