The Dundee-based space cowboys from Gloryhammer are on the prowl again. In anticipation of their upcoming album Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex, the band released their first video. Impeccably called – well – Gloryhammer. 

And – I daresay – they’re not holding back. Superman flying through space screaming his tune, interstellar rockets never hitting the target. And Thomas Winkler, who tries to be something of a Thor, swinging the mighty hammer of glory to ward off the evil forces of the galaxy.

Alright, now I am really delirious. As in glassy-eyed and dizzy.

I just watched De Lirium’s Order‘s latest video called Singularity. And I can tell ya, they talk about fractals. Fractal Music to be precise, which is already a scientific concept in itself.

And the video tries to depict exactly that thought. So, throughout the clip, you are kinda unsure, if you are inside a computer, in a futuristic and dreary landscape, or if someone just beamed you into a parallel and apocalyptic universe. It took me a while to figure out where I already heard this kind of free-wheeling style. This chanting about the soundscape that kinda goes all over the place, but still keeps you glued to the boombox. Even if it is not quite ‘your style’. 

Right!

Lenore S. Fingers it was, from Italy. Alternative Metal of sorts with a somewhat confusing song structure. Only here, Space Cult present a similar tune but fully embedded on rocky shores only. With no metal anywhere in sight.

Newsflash: Hunter’s Moon by Delain

I am stumped and pleased at the same time with Hunter’s Moon of the Dutch outfit Delain.

Why issue an EP, and then smother it in a truckload of endless live tracks and videos? Unless you want to make a weak offering palatable to the audience by stuffing it with a ton of recordings of times past.

Or you mix 16 minutes of originality with 48 minutes of miscellaneous recordings on a CD, plus untold minutes of video on another, to inflate earnings. Which – again – is a fine strategy. Because you gotta make a living, right?
