Steva Deathless with her powerful and smoky pipes always make us return to that particular well called Deathless Legacy. The band’s an absolute beast on stage with pretty elaborate productions. But this quality of the band – unfortunately – doesn’t always translate correctly once sound only plays. A fact that we painfully discovered on their 2018 piece Rituals of Black Magic, apart from the last track on this record that turned out to be top-notch indeed.

Okay, Celestial Season announced it. Once Mysterium I released, the band promised more records to come in 2022 and 2023. And that may very well mean two records in one given year. So, sure enough, here they are with Mysterium II, a mere few months after their last marketing event in April of this year. The RMR crew may be damaged by experience, but it also tells us that releasing too much material in one year is dicey at best. Whoa, sometimes one doesn’t see the forest for the trees. The insane rush towards moar full-length reviews often lets us forget that other gems might be lurking in plain sight.

And sure enough. Not that long ago, RMR covered Ellende‘s Ellenbogengesellschaft, a perfect specimen of what we call Forest Metal over here. Abschied,1 one of the main contributions on the record spawned a pretty snazzy video that somehow got lost in the fray, until now.

Let me bring you songs from the wood? Strange, we heard that line before, eons ago, didn’t we? But it kinda clicks with this outfit, a band called – In The Woods…, with the album art depicting a human tree from hell of sorts.

The band started off back in 1991 – some 31 years in the past. But already in 2000, they departed on a giant hiatus until – 2014. Since then, they unleashed two records to mixed acclaim with Diversum, their third attempt at new-found glory.
