It is true. Progressive Metal was in short supply on the RMR zine in 2024. And this resulted in a roster far too dark and ominous for its own good. Don’t believe me? Officium Triste‘s last record left a pretty hefty impression over at the Review Desk. In an abundance of weeping guitars, tear-drenched melodies, and relentless growls, the band delivered a mountainous relic of oldish doom. After all, the piece talked about The Death of Gaia, no less. Albeit that the record’s overbearing intensity and inherent repetitive nature finally got the better of us after a while.

Power Metal is a scarce commodity over at RMR this year. Don’t ask me why, the crew here usually likes itself a lusty slab of juicy metal. But – alas – pickings have forever been meager so far.

But now, late in the year, KingCrown spake, and their voice is mighty. To the point that the old geezers over at the Review Desk suddenly got jolted awake by some earthquake, good ol’ Poseidon caused over on the Atlantic sea floor. Welcome to Nova Atlantis.
