Now I finally know where Ms. Slayes of Unleash The Archers got the famous metal scream from on Time Stands Still at the beginning of Test The Metal. Dream Evil invented it first.

On their 3rd full-length album The Book of Heavy Metal that escaped into nature back in 2004. And they had the crunch it takes to produce some crystal clear and steely metal back then that – in all its somewhat cheesy splendor – will still please the fan crowd of today.

Given their somewhat Dio-esque soaring style, I always wondered if the band name had anything to do with it. And sure [...] Click to raid more!

But gosh, if I would face the final exit of a long-time lead guitarist AND the drummer to boot, for [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider Review - Paradise Lost - Plague Within - Album Cover

One thing is clear: The 14th studio album The Plague Within of the long-standing band Paradise Lost has its moments. Total, stellar Doom Metal moments like Beneath Broken Earth for instance. Offering a meatier Black Sabbath-style tune that is actually pretty good with a (very limited) solo to boot.

And there are other moments, like Cry Out, which give you hope that this is actually getting somewhere. Only to find out that this track is actually at the end, instead of somewhere else. Even if this piece of work feels like some ’80s Hard Rock or early Heavy Metal production gone Death Metal [...] Click to raid more!
