Týr - Battle Ballads - Album Cover

The RMR crew just learned something new about the Faroes. In 2021, some two years after Týr‘s Hel hit our shores, archaeologists established that settlers arrived at the islands way before the Vikings did. That must have shocked the entrenched descendants of the Norse on those isles and the axe-wielding metallists of the Viking Metal fan crowd. It looks like present-day island dwellers’ mighty ancestors didn’t step on virgin lands. Sheep and some folk were there before them.

As the lore goes, some acolytes of the nailed god allegedly usurped the spot way before the first longships appeared. I … [...] Click to raid more!

The Neptune Power Federation - Let Us Begin - Album Cover

When the RMR crew picked up the video Let Us Begin, we expected Goodnight My Children to be a superfast 70’s rock piece. One that would blow us straight into space to join all that miscellaneous junk floating about the outer reaches of our (still) blue planet. High-octane Sunset Strip fare, some – thing hurtling in like a hurricane over the Pacific. But to our surprise, this was not so, or at least not quite.

Black Absinthe - On Earth or In Hell - Album Cover

Ah, yes, we’re back in Punk Rock’s dirty backyard. And this, just after the RMR review desk finally finished with that infamous Bokassa riot. A record rich in velocity and missing pieces.

So, here, the Montreal / Toronto punk rock scene got back onto our radar. And that’s a good thing, the RMR crew usually gets a kick out of its rowdy feistiness. Black Absinthe, the ambassadors of this formerly forbidden fairy drink that comes in at 85% alcohol,1 are again on the prowl. Since their short blurb Early Signs of Denial, the band didn’t produce much … [...] Click to raid more!

Traveler - Prequel to Madness - Album Cover

And I thought that the newest Traveler album art would be devoid of tentacled beings this time. But no, those Canadians insist on them. And to add insult to injury, the cover comes in an annoying yellow-orange mess with some pukish green and blue to round things up some. Oh boy. But then, I think that an object called Prequel to Madness should somehow try to drive you nuts already. Right?

And good that we didn’t just judge the record by those garish colors but let Termination Shock, the new record’s feisty predecessor, guide us somewhat. But – chastised … [...] Click to raid more!
