RockmusicRaider Review - Revenience - Daedalum - Album CoverWheel of the Devil, huh?  Welcome to Zoetropia. Meaning the Daedalum, featuring a round device with slits giving the impression of moving images when actioned. Officially invented in the 1800’s and patented by a number of crafty bastards, all claiming glory for themselves. When others (way) before them already attempted this feat. But it is a nice touch to name Revenenience‘s début album thus, ’cause the devil is always lurking somewhere in the background in this type of #metal.

Bologna-based Revenience formed back in 2014. This whilst already working on their first album Daedalum, drawing on material from their already rich musical careers.

And Daedalum takes its influences!

RockmusicRaider Review - Within Temptation - Mother Earth - Album CoverKind of changing direction, but still following the vein of its predecessor Enter, the year 2000 creation and 2nd full studio album Mother Earth of the Dutch band Within Temptation is an astonishing piece of work. Actually, the first release was in The Netherlands and then, following in the rest of Europe as of 2001.

Perhaps a bit too much in a hazy, tree hugger kind of style, but still very varied, with a few extremely good tracks in them. They called their new style ‘Celtic’ – Grrmph! – whatever in hell this might mean. And very importantly, they got rid of the Death Grunts that really were never very good with them.Got hooked? Anette Olzon – Shine (2014) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Anette Olzon - Shine - Album CoverI always find it interesting how these fabled, tough and usually black haired front chicks of Gothic Metal outfits embark on a solo career. And suddenly the style is totally different. Just check the stuff out Anneke van Giersbergen did after her departure from The Gathering. And it is not only the hair color that changes.

So, after her somewhat unconventional and forced departure from Nighwish – to say the least – Anette Olzon was looking for a new calling and identity in music for a considerable amount of time. Evil tongues were of course predicting a fall so deep that there would be no return possible.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
