The success of a band defines itself by the fan engagement it gets, on live events and any support medium currently available. It basically represents the sum of the actions of all its member musicians – and their hopefully outstanding contributions.

I already stated once upon a time that I was pretty much done with Symphonic Metal. You might have heard that from me. Then Delfinia happened, and I found myself with egg on my face.

So, the RMR deck crew’s ‘new’ approach became a trifle more careful.

And it goes somewhat like this: If anybody can deliver a chunk of Symphonic Metal that is so good, it might unhorse biggies like Nightwish, then I want to know about it. Ha, there you go, destiny. I got you good this time. No more egging poor, old RMR.

Sometimes you vow stuff. And you wish you better did not. Because vows are there to be broken. This time, the vow was about not covering any new Melodic or Symphonic Metal bands anymore. Or any other newcomer in Power Metal that somehow tries to emerge from an ocean of lookalikes. Dime-a-dozen deliveries, with an ever yesterday’s sound, rehashed all over again. Right? 

Well, it did not quite work out that way. Time to be contrite, RMR.

What better style than Industrial Metal to invoke all of them demons that seem to haunt the modern global workings these days. And the German NDH movement may be the perfect backdrop for that kind of theme.

Eli Van Pike indeed have ample material for their tune in these troubled times, with the American government running roughshod over everything and anything. And the German class politique – indeed the whole of Europe – unable or unwilling to stand up to the bully. So, in a sense, the title In Flames (not the band, the track) is more than fitting.
