Wintersun – Time II (2024) – Review

Wintersun - Time II - Album Cover

Whenever one of Nuclear Blast’s tired mainstream warriors gets RMR to come out of the woodwork, Wintersun‘s siren call may well be the culprit that made us do it. Everyone has been waiting forever and a day for Jari Mäenpää to finally make his move. Unending delays, false promises, and grift, after grift passed us by1 but Time II still wouldn’t appear. Until such time that the RMR Review Desk finally stopped looking for it.

Now, after a friggin’ 12 years of waiting and a lot of ridicule, the band finally delivered – something. If you remember, RMR … [...] Click to raid more!

Kronowski - Ashes of Amber - Album Cover

Well, what kind of strange fish have we caught ourselves today? A record the old geezers over at the review desk downloaded because – the artwork intrigued them. And we were greeted with the story of Jasmine. Or something. An unknown outfit called Kronowski with a start date of 2020, boasting typical SoCal feel-good rock fare, complete with an overly sweetish sugary coating and a chipmunk voice spewing dark-ish lyrics at ye. And that, even if the artist hails from Georgia which is – incidentally – on the other side of the US.

And that’s where the inconsistencies already … [...] Click to raid more!

Degrees of Truth - Alchemists - Album Cover

The RMR crew’s first interaction with Degrees of Truth was back in 2016. The Reins of Life was the piece’s name – and it didn’t quite register with us back then. We should probably have shown that piece some better love. And contrite RMR admits that this old record of them truly deserved better than a puny little blurb of badly managed wordsmithing. But hindsight is always 20/20 and now it’s too late. Also, for some reason, DoT‘s 2019 album didn’t register over here. A trail of missed opportunities and skeletons in the backyard? Somewhat.

Now, luckily and thanks … [...] Click to raid more!
