Moonlight Haze‘s 2022 piece Animus was one of the Power Metal highlights of that very same year. Founded in 2018 by two Temperance survivors – Chiara Tricarico and Giulio Capone1 – they went on to create what today is a well-known band in the Italian PM sub-section of metal.

The perpetrators active in a mix of Symphonic and Power Metal often have trouble deciding which way to turn. Nightwish or – again – Epica are good examples, albeit that they tend more to their symphonic parts. Kamelot are another band where this rings pretty much true. The RMR crew was always impressed by the pretty flawless productions that this band projected into their various albums. And so far they shoved their Power Metal urges into the limelight more prominently than other intruding styles. But this may be about to change.

Ah, countless calories galore. I just went to the fondue shop to get my fix of milk fat, garlic, and loads of white wine. Together with two baguettes, of course. You do need nice, crusty bread to go with this dish of molten cheese.

Well, in hindsight, this is not something I should have done. Because little did I know that I’d get started on Avantasia‘s Moonglow anytime soon. Their 2019 record is so full of cheesy glory that – actually – there will be no need for future fondue excesses. Do you know why the 2017 Ensiferum record still did not get a review? It is not for lack of trying. The reason is the predictability of their product. This argument leads to ‘I told you so’ on style and execution. This almost divine anticipation that – most of the time – is right on target. And this drives everyone around the RMR officescape nuts.
