When Seethe bubbled up the review pipe, we were fascinated. This was some refreshing new piece of rock that had energy to spare. A still somewhat local band from Portugal finally raised its mighty voice and – blamed Zeus for it. And thinking about it, he pretty much got to carry the hat for everything if I remember that correctly.

By the end of 2022, the RMR reviewers realized that Xaon‘s latest record – The Lethean – never quite made it onto our swampy review pipe. And in truth, what record in its right state would want to dwell in that steamy sump just to be lost forever, right? I just watched Omnium Gatherum’s latest video and was – no surprise there – struck all over again with the closeness to the sleepless ones. And indeed, Insomnium and their somewhat stereotypical brand of melodeath often stands for the law by which all shalt be measured.
