Hehe! RMR is moving out of the moldy underground sump of our review pipe into the bright-lit realm of Metal o’ the Light. But fear naught, it will only be for a short while and we will be back.

The RMR clip scouts stumbled across Feuerschwanz and their new video Bastard von Asgard. Meaning, ’tis their second appearance on this ‘zine – and that is quite a dastardly feat for a parody band to pull off over here. But then, Feuerschwanz proved to be more metal than some of those other overly silly funny bunnies out there.

Frozen Crown - Call of the North - Album Review

Frozen Crown floated about the outer edges of our recordscape for a few years. And yet, their wares never quite connected with the cranky folks over at the review desk. But I’d like to stress that Frozen Crown‘s earlier records – The Fallen King, Crowned in Frost, and Winterbane – got duly checked out nonetheless.

Sometimes nomen est omen. But for Frozen Dawn‘s new record, it’s actually two things. The name and the album art. And indeed, the band name already hints at abject, ice-cold, and razor-sharp harshness. But look at the cover and feel the cold howling winds of Kadath seep into your bones. This actually made me light a fire. True story, by the way.

And it looks like we’re going to have a great run with Melodic Black Metal of different couleurs this year. Deviser and …And Oceans just issued pretty good records. And Sarcoptes should drop their newest piece later … [...] Click to raid more!

Forlesen – Black Terrain (2022) – Review

Hierophant Violent didn’t quite work out for us. Don’t ask me why, Forlesen‘s debut album just didn’t click, despite the magnificent album art. It might have been a case of sensory overload, who knows? It does happen, though, when too much metal1 (real or wannabe) suddenly blows yer senses to smithereens. And that’s a pity because this band’s debut got rave reviews – and somehow the RMR crew just phased out.
