The RMR crew would like a word. We’re talking about solo artists and those jacks of all trades that grandly strut their stuff around their very own soundscapes. Those often end in misguided and listless endeavors en route to nowhere. And that, when everybody knows that band efforts reign supreme.

And then, there’s those who quietly build their career and reputation. Until they’re ready for a solo project themselves. But instead of going it alone (and failing), they find themselves bandmates for the music and concentrate on songsmithing.

Fabienne Erni has crossed our hawse a few times since she abruptly appeared on Eluveitie‘s roster in 2017. And from that moment on, she embarked, with this outfit and a couple more bands, on a widely recognised and critically acclaimed musical career.

Now, in the run-up to her first solo album, Starveil, out later this year, she released a first clip worth mentioning. Same as the new piece currently in prep, Ritual is a pigheaded little blurb. Eluveitie – Ànv (2025) – Review

Once upon a time, Chrigel Glanzmann had a great idea. And that was to merge Pagan Folk with Death Metal. Not many expected this to work, but after a fair amount of trial and error, he succeeded, and Eluveitie was the end product that stuck with the audience.

Since the zine’s inception, the RMR crew covered a whopping six full-length records of this band. Out of which Everything Remains (as it never was) and – strangely – Evocation II – Pantheon fared best. Let’s be clear, lavish coverage such as this for one band is pretty unusual @ RMR. Over the years we covered a whole bunch of female interpreters that more or less prominently appeared on the RMR zine at some point in time. And this at a rate of some 25% of all reviews done to date.

Now, let’s be clear.

There will be no quota for anything on this blog, so don’t get your hopes up. We’re not going down silly road and die the painful death of fucking political correctness. Nor will there be any single-minded preference towards any type of interpreter on this blog.
