RockmusicRaider - Insomnium - The Conjurer - EP Cover

Nothing and nobody has been able to really copy that typical Insomnium style. Nor should anybody, right? This muted cathedral sound, spiked with discreet symphonic elements. All of this usually delivers on smoothly flowing, soaring guitars – three of them actually – and Niilo Sevänen‘s stately growls. Plus a few cleans, just for spice.

We were already quite impressed with Heart Like a Grave back in 2019, a somewhat more assertive piece than the former ones. And the question is, what comes next?

Well, their new video The Conjurer does. If anything, the band didn’t jettison any of their … [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider Review - Insomnium - Across the Dark - Album CoverWhen the cold dark wind is howling through the countryside with a bleak moon illuminating the wolves looking for sorry beasts to hunt down, then this is about the mood the 2009 album Across the Dark from the Finnish metallers Insomnium appears to transmit to the poor listener.  Unless you are a metal fan and a melancholic Melodic Death Metal fan to boot.

But relax: Nothing there about poor fans and such. This is stellar Melodic Death Metal produced by Insomnium and I absolutely love the way they present their music. Of course (and [...] Click to raid more!
