The Neptune Power Federation - Let us begin - Video Cover

Well, holy moly. These age-old rock tunes never cease to excite us, now, don’t they? The deliciously musty smell of ’70s and ’80s Hard Rock assaulting our ears. Those recordings hitting early metal without really going there – yet. The high-pitched wails, and fast-moving rock ‘n’ roll on goddam steroids. Or was it LSD? We’ll never quite know.

So, here the Australian outfit The Neptune Power Federation appeared on our radar ready to pervert our youth with some unsuitable children’s books. On a video, no less. Let Us Begin boasts a lusty fast-moving Hard Rock piece that reeks of good … [...] Click to raid more!

Drunemeton - Tir Nan Og - Album Cover

Ah, the RMR crew is wallowing a lot in Celtic mystique this early 2024. This time it is Drunemeton and their invocation of Tir Nan Og that got our fancy. A theme hinting at the famed pagan otherwordly island paradise, a haven endowed with everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance, and joy. A place where humans can visit at their own perils only. Byron - Chapter II: The Lotus Covenant - Album Cover

Byron‘s mighty debut album The Omega Evangelion seriously got on our good side back in ’21 – at first. But, those damn choices made by Byron V1 back then suddenly stripped the album of some much of its glory. And that was a true bummer.

So, the question here is, will the band’s dreaded sophomore album Chapter II: The Lotus Covenant rock the stage better than its sibling? We’re yearning for clarity because things look murkier than they … [...] Click to raid more!

Final Coil - The World We Inherited - Album Cover

Transition. That’s what comes to mind once you fire up Final Coil‘s new chapter The World We Inherited. You see, their 2019 piece The World We Left Behind for Others never quite made it through boot camp here. A heavy listen, relatively rough-hewn, and often a bit frazzled around the edges.

Yet here, you get the increased power of a dronish version of Gojira on steroids, a new-found heaviness, and increased refinements that weren’t quite there before. And as the latter navigate the treacherous waters of environmental issues, the band around Phil Stiles raise the specter of a … [...] Click to raid more!
