It is true. Progressive Metal was in short supply on the RMR zine in 2024. And this resulted in a roster far too dark and ominous for its own good. Don’t believe me? Our Top 10 can bear witness to this. That’s not to say that we didn’t enjoy any juicy hits in the prog department. But all of those were rather scarce to begin with.

What can I say, we can’t help it. Our revolutionary genes kicked in yet again in 2024. Rulez have been broken and oldish content was covered with abandon. Well, the sinning wasn’t quite that severe. 2024 was a difficult year at first. It started very slow and apart from a few forlorn underground pieces, there wasn’t much that struck the fancy of the old geezers over at the RMR Review Desk. So, how were we ever going to field a genuine Top 10 series with no good material to show for? But fear naught, by late spring the crop started showing some promising results. And – boy – the harvest took a somber turn with many a malevolent piece hitting the desk of the surly Guardian ov the Review Pipe.

Nomen est omen, right? The act’s called Idiot Robot.1 And I daresay, the moniker’s spot on with the duo’s new concoction called Anti Pop Culture. The RMR crew let that one grind on our mighty music system from time to time over the last months. And each time it got brutally scuttled at about halfway through the tracklist.

But after a while, you have to snatch the dirty laundry from the floor and take it to the cleaners. And that includes explaining all those weird stains to the attendant, even if it hurts your pride. Like that,
