Shores of Null forcefully hit our pipeline with their one-liner Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying) back in 2020. The somewhat clunky title hid a pretty snazzy piece of doom, spiced up by Elisabetta Marchetti‘s ethereal wails. And it turned out to be one of those one-track affairs, a challenge not to be taken lightly. Shores of Null‘s most monolithic 3rd full-length record to date and a great one at that. The perpetrators active in a mix of Symphonic and Power Metal often have trouble deciding which way to turn. Nightwish or – again – Epica are good examples, albeit that they tend more to their symphonic parts. Kamelot are another band where this rings pretty much true. The RMR crew was always impressed by the pretty flawless productions that this band projected into their various albums. And so far they shoved their Power Metal urges into the limelight more prominently than other intruding styles. But this may be about to change.

A good piece of doom is always welcome here. Not that the RMR crew consists of a bunch of morose doomsayers, far from it. But there’s some allure in a juicy slab of tear-drenched misery.
