Woe, what did I just read? My Dying Bride are – allegedly – canceling all of their 2024 tour dates. And I daresay, the RMR crew much enjoyed the Maryland Death Fest’s enigmatic choice words for the band. By the time of writing this blurb, nobody really knows what the matter may be. And oddly, they did that just before their newest piece A Mortal Binding was up for release.

The RMR crew just learned something new about the Faroes. In 2021, some two years after Týr‘s Hel hit our shores, archaeologists established that settlers arrived at the islands way before the Vikings did. That must have shocked the entrenched descendants of the Norse on those isles and the axe-wielding metallists of the Viking Metal fan crowd. It looks like present-day island dwellers’ mighty ancestors didn’t step on virgin lands. Sheep and some folk were there before them.

The RMR crew likes itself a good piece of dissonance from time to time. And this April 2024, there are two of them on the menu. Kvadrat – in a subdued kind of way – and the German band Maere with their debut …And The Universe Keeps Silent.

Disconcerting and unsettling nuances lead down this thorny road usually reserved for trve metalheads who like to wallow in darkness and misery.
