It’s time to work on the leftovers from the Year of the Lord 2021. Those that were slated for review initially but for some reason never got enough attention. One of them is the – until recently – pretty much unknown band Sun of the Suns and their debut album TIIT.

And who ever said that we won’t be covering those joint Deathcore pieces anymore? The ones that gurgle themselves through a tasty Death Metal repertoire when they’re not busy ripping everyone a new butthole with their ‘core activities.

The RMR crew here wasn’t all that impressed with the doom soundscape over the last few years. Lighthouses like Pallbearer or – again – Khemmis lost their bite somewhat. To the point that their latest releases found themselves in that dreaded oubliette and not on the RMR review pipe where they should be.

There have been old-style doomsters like Pale Divine that got in our good graces more or less. Whereas others clearly did not. Yet, in 2021, we enjoyed a few pretty pristine sadboi offerings that really shook us to the core, we sobbed so hard. But still, … [...] Click to raid more!

The days are getting colder and darker and the old homestead is rattling with the cold winds from the North. So, you build that fire and try to settle down. Only, metal doesn’t fit too well right now. Instead, a good piece of Folk would be truly appreciated. One that whispers from old bygone times where the nailed god wasn’t quite invented yet, and the countryside home to all sorts of miscellaneous deities, large or small.

So, they’re going to burn down the good ol’ homestead and hoof it out of Dodge in a hurry. With a song on their lips and no regrets.

That’s at least what the artwork tells us. And indeed, now that we latched on to Old Man Wizard, the band decided to call it a day and close up shop. Which – of course – can be a fine strategy. Get out as long as the going is greatest (not only good), that kind of thing.
