The RMR crew over here fancies those records with that ‘Out of the Box’ label. Pieces that are difficult to categorize and even more difficult to review. Looks like we prefer a complicated life over here. But just serving the mainstream hasn’t exactly been a match in heaven for this crew. At least for the folks over at the RMR office tower.

It was the album art that drew me to this particular Scorpions album at first. Yeah, the sticky finger one. Of the guy who wanted to go a-touching, and paid the ultimate price. In a truly adolescent setting to boot.

These were the times of all kinds of surreal shit on album covers. And much more provocative ones than this one, too, yet sometimes of a deliriously tasty kind. This delicious rebel streak is long gone, unfortunately. Most of it got replaced by whitewashed rosiness of uniform political correctness. Ah, here we have another outfit from Varese in Italy. It looks like this spot in the state of Lombardy hosts a wealth of metal bands. The styles seem to range from total extremes to the folksier realms of the metal multiverse. So, once good ol’ RMR heads South again, a stop will now definitely be in order to visit with people. So we can have it all, from the folk people to the devil’s lore.

“We need more dirt [in rock ‘n’ roll].” – That’s a quote attributed to Krokus‘ Chris Von Rohr, and it fully resonates with the RMR deckhands. The ‘zine indeed needs much more rock and a bit less metal1 to be honest. And we haven’t been too successful in toning this down some lately, given the avalanche of pretty excellent material that rolled our way.
