RockmusicRaider Review - Saille - Gnosis - Album CoverSometimes you just crave it. This blazing hot crunch, seemingly coming from the fiery depths of hell and trying to destroy your eardrums. The whiff of a ritual, all ready to be performed. All this sweet dissonance in the name of the Dark Lord just ignites this urge in me to slap some corpse paint on my face, put on my leaded boots and don the spikes.

And Gnosis, the latest and fourth release of the Belgian band Saille, does exactly that. You really feel like moving down the hallway, beyond yonder red door and down the dreaded stairs into the reeking darkness.

Many Black Metal gigs drone you to death with this abyssal sound, subdued drums and crabby rasps that really don’t raise any emotions.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Forteresse - Thèmes pour la Rébellion - Album CoverI am usually not all too impressed by the scratchy, noisy, lo-fi Black Metal concoctions most of the underground bands liked to throw at us back in time. Their light has gradually been waning over time, but you still got a considerable community still today: The hidden-in-the-woods outfits, only allowing a handful of copies to reach the world of us unworthy earthlings.

And some of them delivering on ancient cassette tape sound support only still today. Forsooth! Kind of eclectic, these days, when you gotta hunt around the attic to find a player. If you own one still at all, that is. Most of these outfits still live by their old code and modus operandi, actually performing a ritual – black mass – more than offering music to the informed #metal public.Got hooked?
