Geisterfels – La Névrose de la Pierre (2017) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Geisterfels - La Névrose de la Pierre - Album CoverI am mad today. Black, raging mad. Eyes turning dark and glowing, horns growing on my front kind of mad. A real cosmic rage of epic proportions is roaring through my dark veins.

So, what better time to violate a few principles. Even if the mighty god of blogging sez that thou shalt not turn against his Sacred Rulez. Hoots! So, the first one stipulates that you should not review records older than a few months. And for sure not those of last year. Yep, right.

The second one is to kick some high level, festival-cognizant and big label savvy attendants out the door. And favor a little known band instead. Just this once, oh mighty forces of the blog police. Even if the CTR risks to move South because of that and the SEO rating will drown itself. But who cares about SEO anyway, right Yoast?  [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!

RockmusicRaider Review - Isolert - No Hope No Light Only Death - Album CoverAs we move around the Black Metal landscape, the Mediterranean is gaining in importance. And most of them bands in the lands of olives and great wine are good to very good. Just think about our recent review of Darkend: Slowly, but surely letting the devil approach the holy see in Rome. The band only started operations back in 2015 and immediately issued a first demo. In November of that same year they found new band members to get things going a bit better and this shows in quality and amplification of output.  [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!

Abbath Abbath Album CoverGood bye Immortal, welcome Abbath. This was quite a departure from the realm of Blashyrkh that the master of the crabwalk and distinctive corpse paint put to the audience. And with some real power to boot: The new self-titled album of this newly formed and self-named band just continues to fire away and indeed fires stronger than before during the Immortal years and now under this new identity.

The announcement of the remainder of Immortal in 2015 to carry on with business as usual had me reduced to a mad cackle. The essence and soul – the divine creator so to say – of the band removes himself and the skeleton wishes to survive? We will see, but for the moment I have my doubts. Sounds a bit like the demise of Supertramp, where after the departure of powerhouse Roger Hodgson, nothing much was left – be it only the ego of at least one band member. And it ended relatively soon thereafter.  [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!
