Marko Hietala, one of the only artists out there holding the RMR crew’s unwavering respect. He – of course – will remain forever famous as one of Nightwish‘s main pillars. Until he chose to retire from the band back in early 2021, that is, done with a statement that made for somewhat grim reading.

Any band with a piece of ‘Manson’ in it should probably be banned outright in RMR’s top secret List ov Unforgivable Extremes. You know, acts so daft or ideologically challenged, we’ll ban our very own fucking reviews. Like one of them idiot monks enjoying a flagellation attack and the terrible cilice until the white mana spews forth, that kind of thing. But back to the Manson curse. You got Charles Manson, of course, the guy who didn’t know what sorry means and is now burning in hell. “Our very first single in two years…”, Simone Simons crooned some time ago. Not quite true, The Alchemy Project of 2022 came and went without much reverb out in the fan crowd. But I guess, she meant Epica-owned music following in the wake of the astonishing Omega. But one can never be quite sure.

So, lo and behold, a new video called Arcana appeared on our to-view list. The clip granting – to quote the label – “…a glimpse into the band’s future music, coming in 2025.” Fair enough. Aspiral beckons you, that kind of thing.

This seems to be the season of the ethereal Post Metal and pseudo Post Black concoctions. The eclectic Eva Can’t just got some undue attention lately. And their fare truly sails in the same or similar waters the folks of Alcest usually occupy. So, it only behooves us to give Les Chants de l’Aurore a hefty shake to see what gives.
