Liv Kristine never quite ‘clicked’ with the RMR Review Desk until now. She undoubtedly has been a force to reckon with once she appeared on our feed as the lead for Leaves’ Eyes. That was when Symphonic Metal was en vogue and kicking and she was one of the most prominent female metal vocalists out here. And yet, apart from King of Kings, not many of her – or more precisely – her band’s offerings could truly convince us for some reason. 2020 turns out to be the year of doom in more ways than one. A year that feels more surreal than most.

But fear not.

It looks like many artists were clairvoyant and followed up with a literal deluge of well-crafted Doom Metal of all sorts. Steely, rock hard, and tearfully arranged sorrow and pain. For the avid metalhead to pass the year in comfort, weird as it may be.

The devil is in the detail. And in the name, too. Because, Nomen est Omen, as the saying goes.

So, when Fvneral Fvkk released their newest album Carnal Confessions in September 2019, it got that proverbial cold shoulder. Because – let’s face it – the name the band chose for themselves really does not incite any fervor to write that review.

In other words, whenever a moniker speaks of juvenile bad taste to say the least, the crew over here puts those records on the backburner. There is only so much marketing and legal can explain, you know.

Bleak winds and an icy cold live outside of the RMR offices. A snowstorm from the East is being delivered right now and the temperature drops rapidly towards absolute numbers.
