Since Out of the Garden artfully garnished the RMR zine’s early days, Crypt Sermon has been a fixture at the RMR office tower. And for cause. The undeniable doom-laden quality of The Ruins of Fading Light yet again delivered one cool sophomore album in 2019. But since then, nada.

So, finally, the Philadelphians are back with a vengeance after some 5 years of wait. And the band survived this pretty much unscathed with only two new guys induced into their halls of fame over time.

2023 started slowly. And at first, the RMR crew wasn’t quite sure where it would all lead to – or end. And by the word ‘end’, I mean the end of RMR. A lot of soul-searching went into this year’s continuation of a steady flow of reviews. Same as other music sites out there, we had our severe doubts if running a review ‘zine wasn’t just a fucking waste of internet space or not. The 2015 record In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross immediately got our full attention. The release marked the moment when Sorcerer finally came out of hibernation for real. After five years of trying to decide what they wanted to become since 2010, the year of resurrection of the band after a long time of stop ‘n’ go and deep freeze. And that record restarted their metal machinations with a friggin’ thunderclap.

It’s the RockmusicRaider version of the feasting hall, where the mead flows in streams, meat comes in abundance, and earthly pleasures of the flesh beckon you at every table end.
