I think the Canadians have a penchant for the South. Same as the Germans do, just check out The New Roses.

And who can blame them? Would you want to stay in the cold North when sun-drenched highways, whiskey galore, bikes, dusty bars, and hot chicks beckon you? Well, whilst most stay put, they at least portray this Southern Rock feeling through their tune. RockmusicRaider already covered bands like the folks from Vinyl Hero or others screaming about the soundscape in the best Mad Max fashion. Albeit not from this genre.

Just think about alt-country and good ol’ root music. Staunch, country-fare American sounds pouring out of your loudspeakers.

Lost down in Tennessee, boozed up by too much moonshine, but still good enough to enjoy on a hot summer evening. Then again punkish lo-fi pseudo rock’n’roll aesthetics served on a Southern Comfort laced platter of a full Southern Breakfast.

And clearly, sometimes the lines between some sort of desert-tinged rock, punk, and real country are blurred and there’s trouble really getting a grip on the genre. Especially if we get disconnected country boys or established chansonniers calling in to state that [...] Click to raid more!

Sometimes it does the soul good to be transported to yonder laid-back times of Easy Rider (the film), Doc Hollyday, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and the likes. Just makes you want to put on your cowboy boots, hunt for these tight jeans, don a Stetson, and go a-cruisin’. Down them dusty highways, across broken service stations to stop at a saloon in a windy town for beers, burgers, and fun.

Now, when I first saw the trailer Smokey Fingers issued, and these guys talked in Italian, I scratched my head, not sure where this was all heading.
