RockmusicRaider - Hey Satan - Orange Moon - Album CoverIt is good that not all bands and artists fall off the deep end and indulge themselves in pseudo hip-hop, and / or some sort of bastardized Latino tunes. You know, those cookie-cutter tracks that overwhelmingly populate the hit and chart lists of radio stations.

And I admit, after much metal a dram of Salsa with pretty hot rhythms will do you good. As long as it is genuine. If not, this quickly veers into overkill. Often these fake tunes are so simplistic that it actually hurts to even stay with them longer than a few seconds.

The Canadian East seems to be afloat with reckless rockers. Those in love with high octane, scratchy rock’n’roll that will just get on your good side. There must be something in the water that generates crunch and genuine oomph. But whatever the reason may be, this is jolly good news for us rock adepts.

The RockmusicRaider deck crew already came across this devil-may-care attitude with bands like the excellent Last Bullet or again Vinyl Hero. But none do it with more abandon than the Halifax-based Hitman and their first installment of an EP The Offering: Side 1.

And who can blame them. Would you want to stay in the cold North when sun drenched highways, whiskey galore, bikes, dusty bars and hot chicks beckon you? Well, whilst most stay put, they at least portray this Southern Rock feeling through their tune. RockmusicRaider already covered bands like the folks from Vinyl Hero or others screaming about the soundscape in best Mad Max fashion. Albeit not from this genre.
