Old’n’Tasty Records @ RockmusicRaider – Vol. II

RockmusicRaider - Old'n'Tasty RecordsYou need to give it to them old folks. The ’70’s and ’80s were very productive as far as music is concerned. Barely emerged from early-age rock’n’roll, blues and – not to forget – jazz, rock and later metal were on their quest to claim their place in the musical landscape. This was a time of experimentation, constructing tunes for the future. Not making music for the masses, through old designs like so much patchwork. Which is – come to think of it – what we see a lot of today.

Indeed, older records are – still today – all the rage with many a fan. And – surprisingly – with younger folks, too. I have seen university students debate UFO records for instance – Obsession to be precise – in forum threads. I kid you not, ’tis no alternate fact. It is thus no surprise that some of these albums made it onto the RockmusicRaider most popular records list. And some of them continue to perform well to this day.

The first installment of the Old’n’Tasty Records already contained a juicy collection of classics. But there is more, much more on the blog and in the music collections of the RockmusicRaider crew. So, let’s delve into this new selection from this treasure trove of ultimate findings.  [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!

Scorpions – Blackout (1982) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Scorpions - Blackout - Album CoverThe avalanche of new music and – for sure – new styles that became available in the ’70s and ’80s to the early ’90s was absolutely tremendous. Metal found itself very strongly on the upswing from the early 80’s onwards. Whereas Hard Rock already started to lose a lot of its shiny luster by this time.

Many of today’s well-known metal genres were in full development mode back then. This led to this crazy and fragmented metal multiverse we (do not quite) enjoy today. The culprits? A number of major rock bands – some still fully in action today. Names like Iron MaidenBlack Sabbath, Judas Priest or again UFO heftily stirred this pot of wonders. And between themselves they created a series of stellar records that are – in turn – the perfect candidates for our Old’n’Tasty series. But those were of course not the only gigs active in this development.

You have other bands like the German Scorpions that probably had an equal impact on the development of rock and metal. Yet the international coverage they enjoyed was by far less intense than what – for example – Black Sabbath suffered. Even if the Scorpions went on to become a multi-platinum act that keeps going strong to this day – after some 50 years of activity. On top they boast a list of distinctions long like all the beards of ZZ Top stitched together. [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!

Old’n’Tasty Records @ RockmusicRaider – Vol. I

RockmusicRaider - Old n Tasty - Old Rock and Metal of all kindsDid you know that RockmusicRaider covered many old(er) Rock and Metal records over time? No? We did. And will continue – as time allows – to add more to this specific endeavour.

The performance of bands in the ’70s and ’80s brought about some absolute classics that many enjoy to this day. Be it now in a Progressive Rock arena or the early stages of Heavy Metal or any other sub-genre for that matter. All of these bands contributed to the musical soundscape we find ourselves in today.

And to top all this, whilst all of the original band members start to get kinda old, many of them are still alive and kicking. And – they continue to make great music. But not only that. Their fame is such that some made it onto the 10 Most Popular Posts @ RockmusicRaider. And this for records way older than 40 years or so. So talk about an absolutely amazing reach. Let’s step in and find out what has been old’n’tasty lately at the RMR offices. [...]  Got hooked? Raid on...!
