You’ve got those rare metal pieces that just talk to you. Those that project this visceral connection to your metallic inner self if you get my drift. And this is the way it should be. Metal that docks onto your brain receptors like there’s no tomorrow. Whoever needs vitamins, when you can have all sorts of metal, right?

It is true. I had my reservations about Rituals of Black Magic, Deathless Legacy‘s last full-length album. Somehow things did not quite fit. The record tried to be a live performance on stage. And the band is known for its pretty lavish productions on stage if nothing else. Yet, this was obviously impossible if soundbites are the only thing that you have to offer.

Okay, I admit it. Throughout the clip I waited for the trademark Black Metal screams that Myrkur is famous for. Amalie Bruun surprised me so many times since her first Black Metal piece we covered, I just don’t trust the soft sweet music that’s wafting from my boomboxes anymore.
