Lion’s Share – Inferno (2026) – Review

Lion's Share - Inferno - Album Cover

By the mighty Gawds ov Metal, this album cover of Lion’s Share‘s Inferno here is simply atrociously bad. This blue pseudo-alien looking like a deranged shrimp1 feels so cliché that the prospect of what kind of music might be found inside this blurb here makes me shudder. And not in a good way.

That Lion’s Share already appeared on this zine in 2017 speaks for them, though. This was for a then-brand-new clip for their single, Another Desire. We reckon it will be the same track with this moniker on Inferno‘s Heavy Metal list. That’s impossible … [...] Click to raid more!

Green Carnation – A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis (2026) – Review

Green Carnation - A Dark Poem - Part II: Sanguis - Album Cover

A Dark Poem, Part I roared forth on sturdy wings of woe (too) late in 2025. A record that didn’t deny its roots to Doom Metal Central with pronounced progressive airs, and powerfully so. A piece full of poignant melancholy that took us by surprise first and then by storm. It did miss reaching superb levels by a fraction of an inch, though. And this was mainly due to inexplicable slowdowns and an undeniable lack of oxygen in certain spots.

So, barely a few months later, Green Carnation reappeared on our radar with more sadboi tunes. Rushing new records usually … [...] Click to raid more!

Video: Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel, rituals by Dimmu Borgir!

Dimmu Borgir - Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel - Video Cover

I am fascinated. Dimmu Borgir was last heard of when Eonian hit our zine – in 2018. Since then, the RMR Record Detection Squad found no sign of these Norwegians on our mighty radar screen. And it’s not that they weren’t busy. Live albums, compilations, singles, it all continued to appear. Gotta make money for Nuclear Blast’s cavernous coffers. But then, that may just be an erroneous perception on our side. Who knows, right?

So, a few days ago, the RMR crew learned that a new record was in the offing out late May 2026, Grand Serpent Rising. That’s … [...] Click to raid more!

A Desert Ritual for Obey The Sun!

Obey The Sun - Desert Ritual - Album Cover

Looking at the band pic, the RMR crew thought these guys emerged from somewhere out of the scorched US South. Around the Tucson/Tombstone area, where the rocks are gritty and the cacti huge. Y’know, good ol’ Wyatt’s ancient hunting grounds, now turned tourist trap. Thereabouts.

But not so. Obey The Sun hail from Hungary, of all places. But I gotta admit, they play their part well. The way they chew craggy rock just like ’em parched good ‘uns straight out of those dusty arroyos down there draws us like a bear to honey. Saguaro country comfort right there. Or do … [...] Click to raid more!
