Tiamat - Wildhoney - Album Cover

Is it good or bad to be reminded right away of another band, when starting on a new review?

Wildhoney of the Swedish band Tiamat does exactly that to you. And the album resembles – in style – to what we get to hear from bands like modern-day Moonspell and Pink Floyd. Aye, I kid you not.

But even if this is so, it means that Tiamat display vision, creativity, and courage to go to places where no others were before. They just take inspiration from other work (in this case Pink Floyd) and then run with it. Because the … [...] Click to raid more!

And there are other moments, like Cry Out, which give you hope that this is actually getting somewhere. Only to find out that this track is actually at the end, instead of somewhere else. Even if this piece of work feels like some ’80s Hard Rock or early Heavy Metal production gone Death Metal [...] Click to raid more!

Trillium - Alloy - Album Cover

I have been a fan of Amanda Somerville ever since she appeared on my radar. Mainly as a background vocalist at first, starting with Epica’s The Phantom Agony. Then her other talents and projects came to light and prominence. Such as the Kiske/Somerville records that have brought her some considerable fame. And here she is again, with her own production and debut album Alloy of her gig Trillium.

So, excitement reigned and I could not wait to listen to this new record. Just Looking at the excellent album art and some samples found on YouTube got my expectations running high.

But – hells [...] Click to raid more!
