Blynd - Liber Sum - Album Cover

Picture this: The genteel nation of Cyprus. Loads of Souvlaki, Tzatziki, Mediterranean Salad, and some local wine on the side. Lazy drives around the countryside with visits to beaches and places unknown. Boat rides and snorkeling tours. Nice, gentle music, warm winds caressing your skin. Drinks at the bar with sunburned friends, hot chicks, and all. Well, there you go, Liber Sum (I am free in Latin), you will think.

Sound good? Vacation needed? Liber Sum?

And now this: Harsh, pitiless metal sounds assaulting my ears out of my headphones, no clean singing allowed. Genteel little nation in the midst of the ocean? Nope. Come again!

RockmusicRaider Review - My Dying Bride - Feel The Misery - Album Cover

For those who think that The Plague Within of Paradise Lost has been the absolute best of our Year of the Lord 2015, think again. My Dying Bride just cut you loose, adrift in an ocean of pain, just Feel the Misery!

I know one should not give the boat away and show yer mighty colors too soon, but this mixture between Paradise Lost, Sorcerer, and My Silent Wake is just irresistible. A gem we didn’t know yet was coming to us by this fall. What a great year 2015 has been for Doom Metal of all kinds. From newcomers like [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider Review Leaves Eyes King of Kings - Album Cover

I am pleasantly surprised! Leaves’ Eyes again managed to up the ante and add a lot of metal in King of Kings to their already improved former delivery in Symphonies of the Night. They steadily increased the quality of their musical prowess over the years and King of Kings is no exception. Deeper, darker, more metallic in structure, but also folk-laden in certain parts. Sometimes it almost reminds me of some Folk Metal acts – but not quite to the extent of calling them that. And the lyrics delivered by Liv Kristine Espenaes are up a notch too – [...] Click to raid more!
