Ah, contrite Rockmusicraider needs to report a questionable decision. A long time ago, the RMR crew chose to issue reviews and – potentially – news pieces in local language as well as in the generally accepted English format.

Of course only if someone of the deck crew actually would master the language and the artists involved would – by the same token – predominantly use the lingo. In other words, no Google Translate ever with its sometimes bizarre outcomes. This netted a series of reviews in a language natural to the fan crowd. Sigh. I sometimes wonder why some bands just seem to pluck their names out of thin air. Specifically, one that already exists multiple times all across the globe. This spells a wealth of potential troubles and not only for this infamous trademark thing. It is also an SEO nightmare waiting to happen. It is true. The RMR blog did post pretty critical coverage of Leprous‘ latest deliveries. And for cause, with Malina really taking the plunge in 2017.

Over the last years, the band with Einar Solberg at the helm, moved ever farther down into the sugary abyss other bands already shipwrecked in. And away from a once strong prog metal performance. Cinematic Metal. The dream of shaving off a tasty slice of Hollywood without being there. And – by definition – only in sound and never in deed. Clad in metal that somehow and apparently must sound epic and be smothered in sweetish cheese.

Bands like AfterTime or – again – Illuminata come to mind. And for a while, it is nice to listen to those compositions that all kinda sound alike. But then suddenly this deluge of fondue does get to you. And you start to yearn for something a bit rougher.
