There definitely was a lack of good EP and video material in 2022. And this spells difficult times for any Top 3 in a year as malevolent as 2022. As clips go, much of the material we found was either just bands hacking away at their axes somewhere in the boonies or some miscellaneous ruin. Or – failing that – the material sported questionable cinematography. And that, combined with often pretty boring soundtracks attached to the moving pictures, made us discard most of them. Until some truly delicious pieces hit us. And isn’t it remarkable that two of them come … [...] Click to raid more!
It’s a pity, in a geeky kind of way. Faun now is a different animal than it was once Von den Elben hit the fan crowd. 2013 was a time of change, a refreshing reminder that Medieval Folk can be fun and games without the burden of having to recreate history. The RMR crew just covered Eluveities latest video that found highest praise from the review committee at our mighty office tower. But a short while earlier, Faun joined forces with the Swiss folk metallists for their video Gwydion. And this is – in and by itself – a stellar idea.
Faun are of course known for their pretty sumptuous video productions. You’ll always find a pretty snazzy storyline based on some mythical character or ancient legend. Albeit that lately, the band produced some avalanche of different clips that somehow muddied the waters. In other words, instead of just only … [...] Click to raid more!
It’s time for the second installment of the best videos and EPs awards on the RMR ‘zine. Our crew’s first attempt last year was a pretty snazzy success, so we’ll continue with that second major annual Top 3 list with a new installment. Now, whilst 2020 was a pretty fertile ground for shorter offerings, 2021 turned out to be a bit more frugal.
This was especially true for videos. Many of the clips we saw over those last 12 months were the typical band-in-action pieces. So, nothing to really write home about, they’re all kind of similar. Methinks that the … [...] Click to raid more!
