Meaning the Daedalum, featuring a round device with slits giving the impression of moving images when actioned. Officially invented in the 1800’s and patented by a number of crafty bastards, all claiming glory for themselves. When others (way) before them already attempted this feat.

But it is a nice touch to name Revenenience‘s debut album thus, ’cause the devil is always lurking somewhere in the background in this type of metal.

RockmusicRaider Review - Evanescence - Album CoverOh my! What a total and sad downgrade from the heights of Fallen to this album, kind of unhappily named Evanescence. Only that the evanescence – true to its name – of this gig seems to have finally disappeared completely.

First signs of this to happen already appeared in their former record The Open Door, where one could observe a certain lack of direction and oomph. But still, the latter record contained a lot of good stuff to render it memorable.

This one here, however, tops it in the negative arena.

Rockmusicraider Review - We Are The Fallen - Tear The World Down - Album CoverDon’t we like another Evanescence album, and then a good one to boot? Well, Jeez, ’tis not one of ’em. Oops, sorry (well, I’m not).

It is indeed the old band, just without Amy Lee. And a lot of that stuff they produce really sounds like it. Just listen to Tear The World Down and you’ll understand. Interestingly, the front woman and singer Carly Smithson at times really sounds like Amy, so evil tongues could say We are the Fallen have recreated their own band all over again.
