RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Project Renegade - Cerebra - Album CoverThis strangely subdued combination of Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and a strong dose of Stream of Passion really got my attention at first. Just at the moment when the RMR office police was about to action the terrible delete button. Then some industrial grade ambients and juicy hooks got added to the fray and the RMR robocops took their leaves.

Cerebra is an intriguing tittle of an EP of some three short tracks. The Greek female-fronted foursome Project Renegade run a cunning mix of juicy metal. The record features alternative, ambient, electronic elements intertwined with dark metal riddled riffs and a pretty heavy, but never overwhelming drum work.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Nirvana - Nevermind - Album CoverSometimes it is tough to give the past a real hard and unforgiving look. Especially when it comes to emotionally laden and much hyped-about albums like Nevermind from the long defunct band Nirvana. And there are emotions galore in and surrounding this album. So, it is somewhat of a challenging task to get a few critical words out into the open that others did not yet cover ad nauseam.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Epica - The Holographic Principle - Album Cover

Epica are known for their penchant towards super-epic, somewhat overstuffed and choir-heavy productions. Starting as a Symphonic and Gothic Metal outfit with the astonishing The Phantom Agony, the band slowly evolved towards an orchestral laden, bombastic style that left many of their earlier fans confused in their wake. Over the last years we have seen many of the major players in this genre move into a similar – if not the same – direction. Which means that what should be innovation turns out to be the new mainstream of sorts. It is a little like this drive to political correctness, where nobody likes to step outside the boundaries of the comfort zone.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
