At first, Heart Like a Grave sounds like one of them Amon Amarth records. It is this straight-in-your-face, rumbling Death Metal that compares so well to the yonder icy tracks from the muscular and bearded ones. The only missing part is the dragonhead and the inevitable Viking longship.

So nope, this cannot be it. Instead, we – indeed – get a hefty dose of pretty stellar Insomnium. The type of Melodeath that does not take prisoners.

If you remember, Winter’s Gate already went Viking in 2016, much to the insane pleasure of the Norns. Insomnium set the bar … [...] Click to raid more!

Or is it, now?

And let me tell you some truth to go with that. I am not a die-hard fan of thrash metal. Much of it goes along with mindless screaming and jerking about the stage. Never mind the lyrics or any story [...] Click to raid more!

I confess. Sometimes I do look into the opinions other reviewers express. Not so much to gain specific word-by-word insight, but more to get a general drift of a record.

Usually, the sum of all parts gives you a pretty good idea of where an album resides. It is a bit like Trip Advisor, where you get the gist of things from the overall rating. But not from the detailed wording of endless badly written and subjective comments.

For any record you will always find the fanboys and girls schmoozing the audience in glowing, sugary colors on the beauty of [...] Click to raid more!
