Bleak winds and an icy cold live outside of the RMR offices. A snowstorm from the East is being delivered right now and the temperature drops rapidly towards absolute numbers. Doom Metal is one of the most fascinating genres in the metal multiverse. Ranging from clear voice and female-fronted outfits, like Draconian, over the Peaceville Three to the slow marches of Funeral Doom.

And it is all about emotion. Some project tear-drenched sadness. And others again go for angry desolation, fueled by everyday issues and concerns.

And this is the emotional scale My Silent Wake project in their album Damnatio Memoriae. Doom Death Metal to be consumed with a pinch of desolation and powered by general anger, even fury. And they deliver it well.

RockmusicRaider’s Intermittent Best of… – Tome II

It for sure feels like a gazillion months since I first wrote the Tome I Best of earlier in 2015. But we are only a few months down the road and already a new one is due.

Eventful was the time: From flamers attacking us with comments displaying a level of stupidity I never thought possible, to full-blown hacker attacks on the site, one total breakdown of the site with subsequent reloading and salvaging the server contents. This last one was quite heavy, barely avoiding losing months of writing.
