The RMR crew gets a ton of well-crafted records delivered to its virtual doorsteps. Excellent material that we need to sift through and make painful decisions about what to cover and what not. And sometimes they’re not the right choices. But what can you do, right?

Now, to complicate matters, in this day and age, you can start making music and market it to large audiences with virtually no equipment, skill, or outside assistance. And nobody’s here to vet the material or to – at least – try to correct the worst sins and instincts on stark display. But believe … [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider Review - Faun - Pagan - Album Cover

It’s a pity, in a geeky kind of way. Faun now is a different animal than it was once Von den Elben hit the fan crowd. 2013 was a time of change, a refreshing reminder that Medieval Folk can be fun and games without the burden of having to recreate history. True, some of that fare was a tad light-minded, but the RMR crew here did enjoy that new refreshing wind blowing down from the German heartland. Faun are of course known for their pretty sumptuous video productions. You’ll always find a pretty snazzy storyline based on some mythical character or ancient legend. Albeit that lately, the band produced some avalanche of different clips that somehow muddied the waters. In other words, instead of just only … [...] Click to raid more!

Neo-Pagan and Dark Folk fascinate me, in a geeky kind of way. It’s an archaic multiverse of sorts that seeks to recreate long bygone times that were – supposedly – aligned to Gaia’s consciousness. You know, those times when we were all dancing around the fires and painting weird symbols on rocks.

You got the amplifiers of Heilung for instance, the folks that weirdly howl around the stage claiming they got a grip on all that history thing. RMR covered Gåte not many moons ago for their newest folk piece.1 Wardruna, Einar Selvik’s (not so) new outlet, garnered some … [...] Click to raid more!
