When things get experimental, this crew gets worried. The RMR deckhands already had their fair share of ‘great bands’ that only managed to waste our time with ill-fated projects. Those that got hailed by the eternal yeasayers to nirvana and back, defended by a small gang of loudmouth fans.

Some picture themselves as the archetype of the avant-garde, those that dare face the brave new world that will emerge after all those pandemics and miscellaneous tribulations changed everything. So much so, that we now must embrace the useless and the atrocious. Because someone said so.1

Who ever said that metal is dead and attracts no talent? I always love those folks. They probably never went beyond a bit of AC/DC1 and – oh delicious shudder – some Metallica. Because – guess what – Iron Maiden is the devil’s work and Bruce Dickinson surely grows horns every night.2 And after uttering Ozzy’s name, they’ll run for the mouthwash, because he’s the Non Serviam guy (which he is not, by the way). And that between a gazillion other evil things.

Right.

The German band Lunar Shadow crossed my hawse a few times before. But never at very high levels of intensity. Yet, they always appeared on our metal radar as a pretty competent band with a somewhat old-style rock and metal offering.

An outfit that improved with age as they worked on their skills over the years. A positive development in the making, with a ton of potential for success on the horizon. Yet again, they never quite made it onto the blog and we – thus – never turned the merciless RMR spotlight on this band. In hindsight, perhaps we … [...] Click to raid more!

Well, by the Holy Metal Fucking Cow, I am fascinated. Or more, mesmerized.

Word reached us a short while ago about Rioghan, a new artist on the Finnish music scene. Finland and Scandinavia in general are tough terrains to be on for emerging musicians. A great multitude of famous bands rose to global fame from the North of Europe. Don’t know why, it must be the water. Or – maybe – the eternal darkness does that to them. We’ll never know for sure.
